Inspiration: What gives you motovation?

Ah, Friday night. I know it’s late for my normal Mage blog, but it really took me a good minute to figure out what I wanted to write about. Then, suddenly, in an odd stroke of genius, I knew what it was that I had wished to discuss and share with you people.

Being a mage is tough work. Much harder than some might think. Granted, at level 80, I just run around and spam Arcane Blast, pop the occasional Evocaiton, and am a constant vending machine unto the masses of Azeroth. But in all of my mage play time, one thing remains constant. This is something you have to want to do. Being a constant DPS hound, staying on top of the DPS meters, learning new boss fights, not forgetting key reagents (DOH!), and all in all, serviceing all of Azeroth with mana bizkits and Mountain spring water.

So, in a an effort to show massive love for my class, i wanted to share with you people a small piece of advice. There has to be something about being a mage that inspires you! Either the great stories your mage buddy tells you about his narrow saves or watching the DPS charts as the Arcane mages dominate the top half of the meter. Regardeless what it is, it has to be what you want. I mean, I have watched as several of my friends ask me about being a mage and figure that it’s a cakewalk. You pewpew and spit out food for people, how much more is thier to it? Needless to say, they never made it much past level 20 on thier mages.

The end result shows nothing to the trials of leveling that a player has sustained to make thier lives that easy.

Now, the whole point of this blog is to try and inspire you to want to be a mage, for reasons all your own. It sounds kinda lame and sad in some cases, but I promise you, I would never trade one single moment of leveling for anything. This is a class that requires focus, deadication, a strong acceptance of death, and a great sense of humor.
